#4 // Omensight
I loved Stories, the previous game, and spiritual prequel to Omensight. It was one of the first games I played on my PS4, and the wildly diverging story paths were great to see and a lot of fun to actually get, since the story itself isn’t too long.
Omensight takes a similar, but simpler approach. It still uses the “Truth” mechanic of Stories, but uses it in a way akin to Majora’s Mask – instead of getting multiple outcomes based on new information – you take that information back in time to actually alter events as you attempt to unravel the mystery surrounding the murder of a priestess that ends up bringing on the End of the World™.
Now, the game isn’t without its flaws. The story isn’t quite as strong as Spearhead’s previous game. The combat, while fun, can get a bit repetitive, and battles can be a bit hectic visually, making it difficult to track what’s going on in fights.
That said – these aren’t flaws that really drag the game down. I still greatly enjoyed my time with it – you can read my review here for my more in-depth thoughts.
